Chamblee Real Estate

Chamblee is a city of some 30,000 residents, located just 14 miles Northeast of Downtown Atlanta. It is located ITP (Inside The Perimeter) and to the North and East of I-85. It has seen a tremendous change in recent years with new businesses and construction.

Why Do People Live Here?

If you ask the City’s Mayor, Chamblee is the “Actual Center of the Universe.” And it actually is very centrally located. Easy access to I-85 and I-285, along with a MARTA transit stop near its redeveloping Downtown, make a commute to Perimeter, Buckhead, Midtown Atlanta and Downtown much easier. Peachtree Industrial Blvd (now called Peachtree Blvd) used to be lined with industrial businesses and has now transformed into numerous mixed-use communities like Parkview, The Oliver, and other new developments. New shopping includes the Peachtree Crossing center with a Whole Foods as its anchor. (Plus many other stores and restaurants!)

The Downtown Development Authority has begun work on the redevelopment of the Downtown Chamblee area. It is already home to restaurants, breweries and antique shops. It’s walkable from the MARTA station.

Chamblee Townhomes For SaleLooking for a home in Chamblee?

THIS…can be challenging! The major Zip code assigned to Chamblee extends well outside the city limits. So if you search just by the City, you will find many listings that are not actually in the Chamblee at all. You can start your search from the ORANGE BUTTON in the upper right hand corner, or from the search bar on the top of the page!

What’s the Neighborhood or City Like?

For sometime, Chamblee was kind of unknown. But that has all changed. The historic corridor along Peachtree Road has seen old buildings be turned into restaurants and breweries, new townhomes coming to the Downtown area along with a redevelopment of that area. On Peachtree Blvd, new mixed use developments have opened, or are under construction. At the Northern end of the Blvd is Chamblee Motor Mile where numerous automotive dealerships are located.

Chamblee has a variety of neighborhoods featuring single family homes with mid-century design. There has been new infill construction in many of them, and there are still some “up and coming” areas that represent great opportunities to buy and renovate. (2019) New construction has seen several townhome communities such as Townsend Chamblee and the Collection at Perimeter Park.

What’s Going on In or Nearby Chamblee?

Chamblee GA Homes For SaleRedevelopment of the Downtown Chamblee area. New construction in single family, townhomes and apartments. New shopping with Peachtree Crossing and Whole Foods. New restaurants.

On the Northern end of Chamblee is the Assembly Doraville redevelopment. Currently (2019) there is just a movie studio, Serta Simmons Headquarters and on the farthest end of the site, an Infiniti and Nissan dealerships. (which were and still are a sore spot with people expecting a transit oriented development.) Plans call for rental apartments, townhomes, a drafthouse/cinema, Food Hall and retail. (2020?) Additionally, you will see projects like streetscaping along Peachtree Road into the Downtown area.

What Schools will the Kids Attend?

With the construction of a new elementary school in Doraville and a new Cross Keys High School, parts of Chamblee most likely will see some redistricting with schools. We encourage you to verify the property address you are considering purchasing with the Dekalb County Schools website to confirm attendance.
