Buckhead Real Estate
Buckhead is a neighborhood made up of residential and commercial areas, located North of Midtown Atlanta. It’s a separate “area” from Midtown and Downtown Atlanta. It is one of the most expensive areas to live in Atlanta, but does have a mixture of residential options.
When searching for a home in Buckhead, you can look for condominiums, townhomes and single family homes. Buckhead is well known for its stately mansion-style homes, including the Governor’s Mansion, locate on West Paces Ferry Road.
Why Do People Live in Buckhead?
Besides the mansions, Buckhead is noted for its shopping and dining with it being home to Lenox Mall and Phipps Plaza as well as Buckhead Atlanta, another shopping district. The “core” of Buckhead could be considered the intersections of Peachtree Road and Piedmont Road, with GA400 nearby. Lenox and Phipps are located at Peachtree and Lenox Roads. Notable things in Buckhead include the Atlanta History Center , Lenox Mall, Phipps Plaza and the Governor’s Mansion. Just imagine that Henry Irby purchased 202.5 acres in 1838 for $650, and there are now homes that sell in the millions of dollars! An estate known as Joyeuse was chosen in 1956 as the site for Lenox Mall, which opened in 1959. It was one of the first malls in the U.S. and the largest shopping center in the Southeast.
The term Buckhead roughly covers the interior “v” formed by I-85 on the east and I-75 on the west. Buckhead is bordered by Vinings in Cobb Count to the northwest, the city of Sandy Springs to the north, Brookhaven and North Druid Hills in DeKalb County to the east, Midtown Atlanta to the south and West Midtown to the West.
